Cons; A black blade would be great
Pros; Unit price. Weight, construction and material is good enough for a practitioner experienced in styles such as Arnis or Batanga. If you keep dropping and damaging any knife..... STOP whining and get a "trainer" knife to practice, practice, practice!
Kind of disappointed

This is a lot cheesier than I expected, I purchased a 10 dallor trainer from amazon a couple days before and I thought it was poor but useable quality.. this came in the mail shortly after and I got to say the trainer I purchased is much much nicer the quality is better and it's a better size and weight for flipping. It's not worth sending back so I'll just keep it on my desk as an extra knife but I will def spend more next time ... most the reviews are pretty good so maybe my expectations were not realistic. But maybe I'll save somone from the same frustration if you have less than 20 bucks and want to flip I think your best bet is to find a trainer on amazon

Pin construction is really solid and preferable for people who are not experts with Balisongs. If you're buying your first butterfly or if this is a gift (or really, if you just aren't an expert with a butterfly) I would HIGHLY recommend this knife. Screw construction is preferred by pros because it offers more modular control over the amount of force used for certain tricks. However, with screw construction, --unless you use LockTite-- your screws will loosen fast and regularly, which can be extremely dangerous given the nature of Balisongs. You don't want to accidentally stab a family member from across the house with a phantom blade while trying to learn a basic trick in a different room of the house. Also, if you are even a little bit clumsy, buy this one. Don't go with screws unless you're a pro. Again though, this knife is really well made, easy to clean and oil, and the pins are extremely sturdy. I have had this one for two years, and I also have two other butterfly's that were considerably more expensive -- this one is my favorite. The blade quality isn't as high as my others but its extremely well engineered and doesn't have any flaws. It moves the same way as it did the first day I bought it and the blade is easy to sharpen. Also, the quality of steel really is only marginally less than knives 10x as expensive.
First Balisong.

I just purchased this knife a few days ago. Shipping was great, packaging was stellar, No complaints on that part. After a couple of hours flipping, I noticed the latch was really loose, although not a extreme problem it renders it basically useless. The Knife is sharp, the handles are great, the pins are a little loose but not to the extent to where the play is terrible. Despite that, it handles well, and has good weight. Overall, it's a good starting balisong, especially for its price. I'm going to give it 4 stars.

If I were to flip the knife even with the slightest extra force for speed, the handles lose their balance. What I mean by that is where when I close the knife and lock it, it becomes extremely loose to where I cannot close the knife. The bladeplay on the handles was also off, the right side had perfect play but the other handle was way to stiff. I personally believe it is an okay knife for the price, but I would recommend fixing those two small issues.
Best under $16 Balisong

This is a nice butterfly knife for the price. I bought this knife because I was looking for a good utility knife that I could practice with if I got bored. The pin construction is nice and sturdy so this was perfect. The blade on this is exactly like the other scoundrels and the handles do have a powder coating.
