Description

Description

This Kalashnikov features a bead blast finished drop point blade and a black aluminum handle.

The Boker Kalashnikov is built with textured aluminum handles and a recessed button. The knife is ergonomic to fit comfortably in your hand. The Kalashnikov knife is inspired by the fully automatic Kalashnikov rifle (also known as the AK-47). The Kalashnikov hearkens back to its namesak—with one intentional push of the button, the sharpened 3.25" AUS-8 steel blade explodes into a bullet-fast swing and locks firmly open. The "kick" of the Kalashnikov is snappy and satisfying, but not so hard it will throw the knife from your hand. Item features jimping for a sure grip, a deep-carry pocket clip, and a lanyard hole.

I own both the "mini" (2.5" blade) and the full-sized Kalashnikov (3.75" blade), both of them drop points with plain edges. Great knives! Opening is fast and positive, and while the AUS8 steel isn't great on edge retention, it's easy to resharpen quickly (I keep a diamond rod in my pocket for just such occasions). I would definitely recommend these to someone who wants a reasonable quality EDC auto for an equally reasonable price.

I bought this knife a few years ago and put it in my display case with a collection of other automatics. After carrying an OTF-DA for a few years and playing around with it several times, I decided to change things up and have a go at it as my new EDC knife and buy another for my case. I've previously researched this knife and found great reviews on it. I've carried the Boker Magnum with the "tanto" blade and found it to be a very reliable and tough, so I reasoned this knife would perform equally as well. The Boker Plus Automat Kalashnikov 74 is indeed just as reliable and tough. In fact, as far as cutting goes, the bead blasted drop point blade on this knife easily out performs that of the Magnum. It's razor sharp edge and flat grind make cutting a breeze and it holds its edge very well. It opens fast with authority and locks up good and tight. The blade centering is spot on. There is absolutely no blade play (if there is any side to side blade play, simply tighten the pivot screw). The handle is very comfortable and hasn't created any hot spots on my hands even with continual use. This knife is by far the best knife in its class and worth every penny.

I personally have purchased 3 different Kalashnikovs in the past from separate vendors. The "Operator" has to be smarter than the "instrument/weapon" you have in your hand at the given time. To figure some issues out try doing to at different angles, change hands, and YES...Preventive Maintenance is thee utmost resposability or you will have more failures, disappointments as well as frustration to go along with just chucking it in s drawer and start pissing and moaning about how much a piece of junk that it is to any and all whom will give a rat's ass to listen.
If you would have cleaned out any deposits, lint, or congealed oil replacing it with a 3-in-1 oil of Hoppe's #9, which I prefer and a fair amount of Q-Tips.
So before flying off the handle ranting and raving before having to take a blood pressure med. Try sitting quietly letting your thoughts clear and try some wiping down, opening up and cleaning springs and rail...and try checking out a few forums for assistance from other groups , hell you can even find help with them on YouTube for crying out loud.
I hope that this has helped a tad bit, because stalking around everywhere like that will only frustrate you more as well as some of your loved ones around you.
Good Luck, & Keep plugging away hoping it works the kinks out for you,

Rich L

I have owned this knife for a long time now. Anyone who has anything bad to say about it is a moron (Dennis). Give it good care, and it will serve you well. A knife is a tool, and you must treat it as such, oil it, sharpen it, keep it clean. Before you talk smack, take the time to know what you're talking about first!

I had one of these before when they still had the unusable and unnecessary safety lever on the back side. I liked it then, though, and carried it faithfully because of the great blade and the one handed opening. I ended up giving it to my cousin because he liked it so much. Time to buy another and I think I'll go again with the same but improved model. Hope it's as great as the first!

BTW, the sheath for these is definitely worth the money. though they only seem to have the desert color right now. I got one anyway because it's a good fit.

First knife wouldn't open consistently without several firm pushes. It was returned for replacement. The 2nd knife's operation wasn't any better than the first one I received. Bladeplay's rep explanation was that the button needed to be pushed deeply and I should work with it. Yeah right! This is a poorly made automatic knife at best. Neither knife was "razor sharp". Buyer beware.

It's difficult for me to give ANYTHING 5 starts of perfection but this piece is close. Have owned it for a year and has opened upon pressing the black button without issue, fast and without thought. The blade was sharp when I first tested the knife but I could perform surgery with it since I've done due diligence sharpening it to a razor blade edge. If I had to knock it for anything, that would be the blades thickness, could have used another 0.5-0.75mm of thickness to provide any of my concerns with fracture. This is not a self defense weapon but I carry it daily and feel confident that just the wicked click upon opening will have anyone thinking they could grab my cell or cash will be thinking twice, especially when pulling back a bloody stub, jus' sayin'.

I just had to have this for my collection. I don't want it as an EDC but it covers all the criteria for an EDC. Fast, smooth and sharp. Nice weight and fits nicely in my pocket and is very light. As with any of my knives I always put a few drops of "liquid bering" oil and the action and pivot. The only flaw I can see is in the release button. Not a smooth action, tends to hang slightly causing to blade to "creep" out of the handle for about 1-2mm. Not a big deal when fast deploying this blade, but can be a flaw when showing the dudes your new toy. Overall, I love this and will keep it with me always.
Awesome deal, great knife!!
