I love my knives. I have a knife for just about every occasion. My kitchen roster is a vast and wonderful lineup. My field knives, shop knives, travel knives, dress knives, landscaping, climbing, sailing, diving, carpentry, craft, even surfing, all have style and function that can only be appreciated by those who value their tools equipment, and knives as I do. I have such a wide variety of blades that it’s one of the first decisions I make in the morning. Which one is going to accompany me today? I have traveled the world, and find myself magnetically pulled to the village knife shops.

When I picked this Elementum up, it was on a whim. I was looking for another daily use blade that I could rely on. I want to be able to enjoy the feel of it in my hand or pocket, but most importantly, wanted a highly durable, fashionable and functional knife that functioned well at all the tasks of a gentleman’s day.

Geees, did this knife check all those boxes and even more so, it surpassed them, then rightfully set the bar higher than I ever imagined.

The weight is perfect, not too heavy, not too light. The clip is substantial—again, not a beast, but also not flimsy and holds it’s place with confidence—it’s not going to fall out without a solid intent to do so. The fluidity of the flip-style opener is truly sublime. It locks into place solidly with a gratifying mid-range snap sound, the motion is as if it has a bearing . The liner lock releases the blade back into it’s slot with an easy motion. Caution: Be careful, it closes so readily and freely, that you’ll want to make sure your thumb/finger is out of the way before you close it shut. Balance is ever so slightly towards the handle, just behind the front quillon, which allows the grip to fall nicely into the hand. The jimping is obvious, substantial, without being aggressive. It’s a nice narrow profile, so it sits in the pocket unobtrusively, and the weight is such that it doesn’t tug on the pocket. Now, is sharpness...whew! This knife will cut. It’s truly razor sharp and the G-10 grip is comfortable, but I haven’t used it in wet or damp conditions, Honestly, I keep my blades honed and sharp, but out of the box, this blade has few rivals.

All in all, for this price, it’s a bargain. I have much more expensive knives that don’t rate this high in all of the criteria that I rate knives. My only reluctance at the time of purchase—Made in China—but after a couple weeks of use, those concerns have all been allayed. This knife is going to be a lifer. So pleased I picked this one up.
