It stays within the handle until needing to be deployed for action. The blade, being highly wear-resistant, is made of D2 steel with a stonewash finish. The handle is black, glass-filled nylon with texture for an added grip. The knife opens smoothly with either the thumb studs or flipper tab with the SpeedSafeŽ assisted opening.
