My New Favorite — Little, yet Mighty

This little beauty has become my new favorite daily knife. It’s the perfect size knife to do all the little things that knives are supposed to do throughout the day, from opening packages, boxes, letters, to cutting off tags and trimming paracord — it’s had a few weeks to perform and it has not failed yet to make me smile each time I pull it out and press that button. It snaps open with a real solid, powerful, and serious “SNAP!” You must make sure you’re holding it firmly or it will jump right out of your hand. The fidget-widget factor is high with this action, it’s rather pleasing and satisfying. It came out of the box very sharp, but I was able to put it on a leather strop to make it a razor. The hawk bill style blade is new for me, but I like how aggressive it is. It punctures and slices with remarkable ease. It’s like a talon that grabs it’s prey and rips right into it. It’s small enough to fit in my small change pocket, but it also tucks in nicely into my back pocket, or right into the front pocket without being noticeable. The tip up carry makes it even more rapid fire accessible when it’s clipped in. The clip is small, solid, doesn’t snag on things, and sits firmly in place when it’s clipped — no slipping out. I do carry much larger blades when I’m doing outdoor work, or on the trail, and that sort of thing, but they are just too big to carry around town, and even when they are deep pocket clips, I get a little nervous about them being too obvious, and I don’t want them to attract any unwanted attention. After all, an Indian found with a big automatic knife rarely goes over well…still. Though this knife is little, it be mighty. It is barely noticeable, so it’s exactly what I need as a daily carry, and even if it is open, it’s not much more than a penknife. But, trust me, the moment you pop it open…SNAP!…anyone around you will go “What the…” it is that awesome…knife envy. So far, the edge has held up very well, great edge retention, and easy to sharpen, I’m sold on the CPM 154 steel. I am now a complete convert to that steel for this kind of all purpose, every day blade. I added a paracord lanyard, as I do with all my knives, which adds not only a little extension to the handle, but also allows me to see it and find it if I should set it down somewhere. Yes, this is my new favorite, and all my other knives are sadly waiting for me to fall out of love with this little beastie so they can get back in the rota. Poor things. Give it time, he’ll come back…
