This thing is tricky at first and there is nothing to give you a clue. No included docs and nothing i could find on Youtube either. It took me about a half-hour of steady trial & error to trigger the automatic action. I believe this was mostly because the switch started out EXTREMELY stiff. Then when I was able to trigger it consistently, the blade was only popping out to about 90 degrees. After 20 more minutes of manipulating the action, I got the blade to consistently pop out to about 135 degrees. I even got it to open fully with a lucky flick of the wrist, but it's only happened once so far. I'll get my micro tools out tomorrow and see if I can get this guy dialed in. Honestly, if it was an option I would've only knocked it down half a star, because this is a really cool design.

Dear David,
Thanks for your review. The knife may require some lube or oil plus an initial spray of compressed air since the factory lube may have coagulated. We have a hassle-free 90 day return policy for a full refund if the issue is unresolvable,

I'm not a fan of back/mid lock knives and with this knife I already have 4 cuts on my middle finger.
BUT, I will overlook that because this IS fully automatic, even though I did not believe that at first arrival.
The most amazing thing is that this knife is BOTH automatic and manual. That is really amazing. It is not spring assisted with the thumb stud as stated above.
No instructions included and I almost returned this knife as I wanted an an automatic side opener.
Exquisite casing. I love it.

I always liked the looks of the Colt AR-15 knife, and I always wanted a DA knife. This knife has a comfortable handle, and recessed mid-lock back so it can't be disengaged easily on accident. Action olis buttery smooth for manual opening, and quieter than a Lightning Elite OTF for automatic use. The automatic release button is nicely hidden, and hard to activate on accident. The blade didn't come shaving sharp, but it only took about 2 minutes on a Norton IC6 combination stone (M Crystolon, F India) to get it tree-topping arm hairs. The American Tanto is a great edge for EDC, as the secondary point is very helpful when opening packages and boxes.
