Description

This Lightning Elite has a black finished drop point blade.

The Lightning Elite is a double-action OTF knife that's a step above the original Lightning. It looks much the same, but the parts on the inside have been refined, polished, and lubricated to provide a smoother, faster action than ever before. With a close look, you can see that the blade has a fuller ground into it, making it lighter, and even faster when opening and closing.

I love the action. But it broke on the 6th day.

I bought this knife for EDC.

The action is vary pleasant to fidget with, No sharp edges on the handle.
The blade arrived razor sharp. I added grip tape to the handle
because it would get slippery with sweat after 20 or so deployments.

total deployments before failure were upwards of 500+
I used it allot just to loosen the action and test it's durability, I only had 3 or so misfires.
The part that failed was the front operator or front blade catch (the small ( L ) shaped catch connected to the front facing end of the spring),
the catch snapped on the corner of the ( L ).
I couldn't find a replacement part or kit of replacement parts.
So instead of throwing my new knife away, I crafted my own catch and it functions just fine now.

Price vs quality is the big debate, but if you are looking for a budget friendly OTF knife and you are prepared to buy a few replacement knives, lightning is the way to go.

The knife took 11 days to arrive, I had to email Grindworx about my order on the 9th day, I received a response in less than an hour saying that the order will be changed to next day shipping. so I am satisfied with the customer service.

Packaging could be better, the knife came in a zip-lock style bag in a small bubble-wrap package.

Don't get me wrong, I am satisfied with the knife and I will be getting more lightnings in the future.

Thanks Grindworkx!

Very fun to play with and nice size even if a bit large (nature of the beast) there is a bit of blade play and the handle does look cheap, but probably why it's like 1/10th of most OTF knives cost... few hundred fires and so far so good! I like the drop point two tone, just a nice change from the usual.
You get what you pay for?

I bought this knife on this website because they had a favorable review and it had a non serrated tanto blade option. Within a couple days of receiving my knife I experienced spring failures where the blade would stop halfway out and I would have to fix it manually. Today, about 3 months after purchase the tip of the blade snapped off. The paint finish is also mostly worn off. My take is buy something more expensive... Cause THIS knife isn't dependable at all. Good forbid I ever had to use this thing to defend myself!?
Slightly Better Than Original

I have both the Lightning (multiple) and the Lightning Elite. The action is marginally better and it seems the aluminum body is slightly more refined. It's worth the slight amount more but personally I'd rather see a D2 steel upgrade to the mystery steel (likely 8CR13MOV).
